Make A Lidded Box

In this class you will learn how to build a lift-off lid box. This small box requires a number of fundamental woodworking skills: - Making mitered sides with wrap around grain - Gluing up the sides to ensure a square box - Creating and installing a captured bottom - Sizing and routing the top for a good fit and decorative elements - Locating and installing the handle – making the handle will be demonstrated At the end of the class you will take home a completed box ready for final sanding and finishing. All materials and supplies (except sanding and finishing) will be supplied. There will be a break for lunch and many restaurants are near by.

Learn terminology of the lathe and lathe chisels. Understand the three basic cuts in woodturning that will be the foundation of all your woodturning. Practice turning skills, body positions and movements for the development of good and safe turning practices. Apply what you learn and making a small project such as a honey dipper, weed pot, tool handle, Christmas ornament if time permits. There will be a break for lunch and many restaurants are near by.
