Get started woodworking with this beginner level class. Students will learn to safely use essential woodworking machines such as the jointer, planer, table saw and band saw. Also covered in this class are basic but critical points including understanding how to purchase materials at a lumber yard and calculating board footage. Students will build a wall-hung cabinet that will satisfy many storage needs, constructed from quality hardwood. This class will prepare you for the Woodworking II and Joinery classes.

Bandsaw Fundamentals

Monday, June 16, 6 PM - 9 PM

A bandsaw is a versatile power tool with a continuous loop blade that runs on two pulleys, often used for cutting wood, metal, or plastic. There are various bandsaw techniques that can help achieve enhanced safety, improved efficiency, and accurate cuts. In this one-night class you will learn how to rip cut, cross cut, resaw, cut curves, and freehand cutting.
