Build A Shaker Style Sofa Table

Part 1: Saturday, December 14, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 2: Sunday, December 15, 11 AM - 4 PM

This popular project is great for the beginning woodworker. If you have taken our "Woodworking Beginnings" class, this is a great way of taking what you have learned and moving up to building a fine piece of furniture. This sofa table will be made with cherry and will complement any décor. It will be approximately 15"d x 40"w x 30"h. and have tapered legs in the Shaker style. The construction will use the Kreg Jig, so this class is perfect for any beginner. We also offer a class on building a matching end table (coming up soon in the class schedule). Check it out!

Cutting Board Class

Tuesday, December 17, 9 AM - 1 PM

Learn to make your own cutting board (approximately 8" X 16"). In this class, we will start with pre-cut wood strips of different species of exotic woods. We will also discuss the techniques of cutting the wood to the specific sizes needed for the cutting board. The process will introduce you to the thickness planner and orbital sander. The cutting board will be finished with food safe mineral oil which will bring out the beauty of the wood.

Introduction To The Router

Wednesday, December 18, 9 AM - 1 PM

The router has a reputation as being a tool that is mostly used by advanced woodworkers, but this is not the case. Properly used, the router can be the most useful tool in your arsenal. This class is designed to introduce you to the many ways this tool is used, from edge jointing to edge decorating to dadoing and rabbiting, as well as sign making. Properly jigged, the router can also be used for flattening and thicknessing lumber and even cutting holes and disks. There will also be some discussion about router tables. Bring your safety glasses, ear plugs, your own router (so Joe can see what you have to work with), and be prepared to learn about the scope and versatility of this most useful tool.
