Build A Shaker Style Sofa Table

Part 1: Saturday, May 3, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 2: Sunday, May 4, 11 AM - 4 PM

This popular project is great for the beginning woodworker. If you have taken our "Woodworking Beginnings" class, this is a great way of taking what you have learned and moving up to building a fine piece of furniture. This sofa table will be made with cherry and will complement any décor. It will be approximately 15"d x 40"w x 30"h. and have tapered legs in the Shaker style. The construction will use the Kreg Jig, so this class is perfect for any beginner. We also offer a class on building a matching end table (coming up soon in the class schedule). Check it out!

"Date Night" Cutting Board

Friday, May 9, 6 PM - 9 PM

This date night class is a great way for you and your partner to learn to make your own cutting board (approximately 8" X 16"). In this class, we will start with pre-cut wood strips of different species of woods. We will also discuss the techniques of cutting the wood to the specific sizes needed for the cutting board. The process will introduce you to the thickness planner and random orbit sander. The cutting board will be finished with food safe mineral oil which will bring out the beauty of the wood. While the glue dries, we will have pizza to enjoy so bring your own non-alcoholic beverage and make this a date night to remember!

Spindle Turning Techniques

Saturday, May 10, 9 AM - 4 PM

Spindle turning is a great way to get started with your turning experience.There are so many things one can make with spindle techniques; it would be difficult to name them all but examples include baseball bats, scoops, canes, pool cues, candle sticks, and even porch columns, to name a few. In this class, one will learn to safely use the lathe and roughing and spindle tools. We will practice techniques that are applicable to almost any spindle project. We are open to any questions regarding equipment capabilities, tool techniques, wood harvesting and properties, and finally finishing possibilities. The student will learn a lot. Dust masks are recommended, eye protection and fun are mandatory.
