Creating Curves with Bent Lamination

Part 1: Wednesday, June 11, 6 PM - 9 PM

The ability to bend wood introduces a new range of design possibilities, enhancing your work's diversity and quality. This class will teach you a common technique for creating curves where you’ll learn to resaw stock into strips, build a form for a simple curve, and glue and mount the strips on your form. In the second session, you'll remove the clamps and refine your piece using the jointer and bandsaw. By the end of the class, you'll have new skills to elevate your future woodworking projects. Basic experience using power tools is essential for this class. Note: a $20 materials fee (cash or Square) will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class.

Used as a sanding sealer, a pre-stain conditioner, or as a glass-smooth topcoat, shellac is one of the most versatile and widely used finishing materials in the history of woodworking. It is not only one of the most beautiful, but one of the least toxic and fastest drying finishes available. Reading about it is helpful but nothing beats the hands-on experience of applying shellac using many different methods including padding and brushing techniques, French polishing and spraying. Intro To The Woodshop

Are you new to woodworking? Want to brush up on basic skills? The instructor will teach how to safely use the essential power tools in any woodshop. Students will learn how to set up cuts and operate a table saw, planer, jointer, band saw, miter saw, and drill press. These skills will be put into practice to create a charcuterie board which can proudly be shown off to family and friends. On day two go beyond the basics and create a beautiful slide top keepsake box! You will practice skills learned in order to gain confidence using essential power tools. Use this foundation to accomplish your woodworking project goals. Note: a $20 materials fee (cash or check) will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class.
