Creating Curves with Bent Lamination

Part 1: Wednesday, August 13, 6 PM - 9 PM

Part 2: Wednesday, August 20, 6 PM - 9 PM

The ability to bend wood introduces a new range of design possibilities, enhancing your work's diversity and quality. This class will teach you a common technique for creating curves where you’ll learn to resaw stock into strips, build a form for a simple curve, and glue and mount the strips on your form. In the second session, you'll remove the clamps and refine your piece using the jointer and bandsaw. By the end of the class, you'll have new skills to elevate your future woodworking projects. Basic experience using power tools is essential for this class. Note: a $20 materials fee (cash or Square) will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class.

Sharpening Plane Blades and Chisels

Sunday, August 17, 10 AM - 4 PM

Sharpening shouldn't be mysterious! This is a hands-on, practical sharpening class that uses tried and true methods to give you sharp edges the first time and every time. Bring in your dull tools and take-home sharp ones! All supplies will be provided for your use, or you can bring your own sharpening supplies if you like.

Turning Wood Pens

Tuesday, August 19, 6 PM - 9 PM

Turning a pen is about as close to instant gratification as you can get in woodworking. It's quick, quiet and makes just enough mess to make you feel like you've accomplished something. Learn all about the components used such as pen blanks, mandrels, bushings and the pen press while honing your spindle turning skills. Pen turning is easy, enjoyable and it's the answer if limited shop space and time are keeping you from pursuing woodworking. Note: pen kits are provided; buy or bring your own 1"x1"x6" blank.
