Scroll Saw Segmentation

Part 1: Tuesday, July 15, 10:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Part 2: Wednesday, July 16, 10:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Create a mosaic of a woodpecker clinging to the side of a tree. Scroll saw a pattern then sand, paint, and reassemble to form the mosaic. This month however we will also employ a technique that while adding color will also allow the grain of the wood to be visible. This is an advanced project and you should have completed the Introduction to Scroll saw class or be an experienced scroller.

Introduction To Woodturning

Get to know and understand turning safety, the lathe and its attachments, tuning tools, wood grain orientation and its significance. The basics of tool sharpening will be covered as you get the feel of the tools and make beads/coves and chips. This is a fun class to get the fundamentals of spindle work and is a required class to proceed on to Introduction to Bowl Turning.

Students should have taken Introduction to Woodturning - and spend enough time turning to be comfortable with a lathe and turning tools. Bring a face shield if you have one. We will cover face grain turning safety, grain orientatin, mounting methods, tool selection and tool sharpening.
