Get started in woodworking with this series of classes by building a fine Sofa table. Starting in part 1, you will learn to use hand and power tools, shop safety, selecting wood and preparation. In part 2, you will use cut lists, drawings, measuring, cutting parts to size, panelizing and gluing. In part 3 you will complete final cutting of parts, sanding and prepare for assembly. A discussion of finishing will follow. Eye protection, dust mask, hearing protection required.

We will cover these topics: Why use a router, types of routers, similarities and differences, components, bits, safe operation, router limits, bit speed, size of cut and some router accessories. You will have time to practice installing bits for edge profiling, dado cuts, rabbet cuts and flush cuts.

This is a great beginner project. It holds three bottles of wine and several glasses. It sits on a table or counter and takes up little space. We will select and prep the wood. Mill it for final cutting Use the domino for joining. The table saw, miter saw, jointer and planer will be used. Safety on all machines will be stressed. Sanding and dry fit and final glue up will be the last day. Capacity 2 Three days 10 am-4pm
