Pen Turning Basics

Use basic spindle turning skills to craft two beautiful wooden ink pens. Learn all the components used such as pen blanks, mandrels, pen mills and the pen press. Next you will make a Slim Line pen, then choose to either make a Wall Steet II pen or a Cigar pen on the lathe. Pen turning is easy and enjoyable, and you end up with a couple of great ink pens. Intro to Spoon Carving/Foredom

Discover the art of spoon carving in this hands-on introductory class designed for beginners and aspiring woodworkers. Students will carve a wooden spoon from start to finish while learning the fundamental techniques used in traditional and contemporary spoon making. Using the Foredom Power Carver, participants will explore safe tool handling, wood grain orientation, shaping techniques, and carving strategies that transform a simple wood blank into a functional and beautiful spoon. Throughout the class, students will learn how to establish a spoon profile, carve the bowl, refine the handle, and add finishing details. By the end of the class, each student will leave with a completed hand-carved wooden spoon, a solid foundation in spoon carving techniques, and the confidence to continue exploring woodcarving projects on their own.
