Curious about woodworking but not sure where to begin? Start here! This hands-on class is designed to introduce you to the tools, techniques, and fundamentals of the modern woodworking shop. You’ll gain practical experience using a wide range of common hand and power tools—including the table saw, jointer, planer, bandsaw, drum sander, drill press, and more—as you build and finish a project you'll be proud to take home. Along the way, we’ll cover essential topics like wood selection and preparation, basic joinery, gluing, and finishing techniques. You'll walk away with the skills and confidence to begin your woodworking journey—and knowledge that will last a lifetime. Beginning Kumiko

Saturday, October 3, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Kumiko is the ancient Japanese technique of assembling intricate geometric wooden lattices. Found in fine furniture and architecture, these panels add elegance to cabinets, doors, and boxes. In this class, you will: Learn design layout for a Kumiko pattern. Build custom jigs to achieve perfect, repeatable angles. Mill and fit individual components using traditional methods. You will walk away with a completed Kumiko panel and the fundamental skills for high-precision joinery.

Learn to Turn

Saturday, October 10, 2026, 9 AM - 4 PM

This beginner-friendly class is the ideal introduction to the art of woodturning. Whether you’re completely new to the craft or looking to refine your skills, you’ll learn essential tool techniques in a supportive, hands-on setting designed to build confidence and creativity. In the morning, students will turn a Bead & Cove Stick—a foundational exercise that teaches the key shapes used in most turning projects: the bead (convex curve), the cove (concave curve), and the flat (straight line). In the afternoon, you’ll apply those skills by creating a simple, satisfying project to take home. Mastering the Bead & Cove Stick builds the muscle memory and understanding you need to enjoy smoother, more successful turning.
