Curious about woodturning? This hands-on class is the perfect place to start. No prior experience is needed, and no tools are required—just show up ready to learn. You’ll be guided through the two essential woodturning techniques, faceplate turning and spindle turning. By the end of the day, each student will complete a small bowl and a wooden mallet while learning the fundamental shapes and cuts used in turning. This class is designed specifically for beginners, but it’s also a great refresher for anyone looking to build confidence at the lathe. Instructor Carlos Angulo has over 14 years of woodturning experience and brings practical knowledge and clear instruction to help students succeed. Would you like to learn how to use a woodburning pen and the basics of pyrography? This class will walk you through the basics such as; types of tools, transferring an image to your project piece, basic art techniques, adding color, and how to finish. Each student is responsible for supplying their own woodburning pen with tip, face mask, pen, paper, image of something you want to burn (optional, no larger than 4.5in x 4.5in), leather gloves (optional).

Hand Cut Dovetails - Course 2

Course 2 is a hands-on class where students will learn the most beautiful and useful form of dovetail joinery: The: "Half Blind Dovetail". You will cut many dovetails and learn several time-saving shortcuts to achieve beautiful results. Each student is responsible for supplying their own dovetail saw (western or Japanese), sharp chisels (1/2in, 1/4in), mallet, marking knife, dovetail marker, pencil, marking gauge, fret saw or coping saw, 1 pair of dividers, pocket knife and eye protection.

We’ll have everything you need to turn a pen that we will donate to our troops in honor of their sacrifice and service. No purchase necessary. Just come, have fun, and turn a pen.
