Woodturning: Segmented Screwdriver

In this hands-on class you will learn how to spindle turn a basic screwdriver handle. You will drill out the handle, finish it by turning it on the lathe, and then assembling the parts. You'll take home your own signed, finished screwdriver that would make a great gift or a treasured family heirloom. The instructor will provide the turning tools. Each student is responsible for supplying their own hearing protection, safety goggles or face shield and a dust mask.

Make A Custom Knife Handle

In this hands on class, students of any skill level will learn the ins and outs of knife making! With a set of wooden knife scales and knife kit of your choosing, each student will create their own custom knife to take home. The instructor will cover how to attach the scales to your knife blank, shaping, sanding and the final finishing. Each student is responsible for supplying their own knife kit, knife scales, hearing protection and safety glasses.

Hand Cut Dovetails - Course 1

The topic of this hands-on class is the most fundamental of all woodworking joints: The "Through Dovetail". Students will learn the basics of dovetail layout as well as basic saw and chisel control as we practice cutting many dovetails. Safety and tool selection will be discussed. A handout is provided detailing all of the steps covered in the class as well as some suggested practical exercises to complete as "next steps" to guide your practice. Each student is responsible for supplying their own dovetail saw (western or Japanese), sharp 1/2in and 1/4in chisels, mallet, marking knife, dovetail marker, pencil, marking gauge, fret saw or coping saw, eye protection, pocket knife and a pair of dividers.
