This demonstration is the furious five, times two. Kip will demonstrate how to turn ten projects that are fast to turn and fun to make. In the process he will show how to work with a variety of materials, chucking techniques, and tools. This demo is particularly recommended for woodturning teachers, youth, and beginning-to-intermediate turners.
Kip will cover the importance of form in the design of turned object. Participants will learn a simple, quick, and effective method to produce several forms, evaluate them, and select the best option. Kip will then use a selected design and turn it into a finished project. Kip will also cover where and how to include subtle details in turnings.
Don’t just kick the tires. Learn how to properly keep your bandsaw in top working order.
Using fine joinery is essential when making heirloom furniture. Through a combination of demonstration and hands-on practice, students will learn hand-tool joinery skills to execute mortise and tenon joints, dovetails and dado joints. Students must supply some of their own tools (20% discount at Woodcraft on tools for this class). Student tool list: Instructor will contact you regarding tool list
Make a show piece for your living room. Learn to build a mold, prep live edge wood, clamping, mixing and coloring epoxy. Second day we will remove from the mold, sand, finish and mount legs. Approximate size: 1.5" x 20" x 44".
Learn how to select a blade and adjust the tension, set the guide blocks/bearings, check wheel alignment, change tires, switch blades and use the tilting table. In addition, some cutting techniques such as re-sawing and circle cutting will be covered as well. This is a hands-on class so come prepared to practice and get dusty.
