Students will complete their own piece of fine furniture, a cherry table with a floating top that will look good as a hall table , or sofa table. You will learn with and use the jointer, planer, drill press, router, pocket hole jig, taper jig, drum sander, and more. Materials included in tuition. Wood Staining

Monday, December 9, 5:30 PM - 9 PM

A hands-on experience that will allow you to tackle your next staining project with confidence and achieve successful results. We'll cover the various types of stains (oil, water and alcohol based) as well as the various ways to apply them from brush and wipe-on to spaying and toning. Hand Tool Sharpening

Ensuring a keen edge is crucial for both skilled craftsman and safety. Students will acquire the skills to establish and preserve the sharpness of a chisel, plane iron and card scraper. The learning process involves a combination of discussion, demonstrations and hands-on practice, allowing students to actively engage with various sharpening tools, sharpening methods and sharpening of as many hand tools as time permits. By the end of the course you will grasp the concept of sharpness, know how to attain it, and understand the methods for its maintenance. Materials included in tuition. Wine Rack

Keep being cheerful and bright this spring by adding a fun wine rack to your home - one that you can show off and share more good times with loved ones! Learn to make a small wine rack for a few bottles to store from solid hardwood. In this class you'll get experience operating a variety of machines and power tools to make your creation. Introduction to Woodworking for Women

Learn how to use the planer, jointer, and table saw to safely prepare and correctly dimension wood. Virtually every wood project begins with this exercise and a thorough understanding of the basics will be a great foundation upon which you may build a safe and creative hobby experience. Jigs and Fixtures

Monday, December 16, 6 PM - 9 PM

Using Jigs and Fixtures in your shop can help speed your work and improve accuracy in your woodworking. In class, students will build and take home their very own MicroJig fixture plate. This plate can be used on the table saw, bandsaw and router table.

CNC The XYZ

Tuesday, December 17, 5 PM - 8:30 PM

CNC the XYZ:…an introductory seminar into the world of the CNC. This three block program includes: an introduction to software, an overview of CNC mechanics and how to cut a v-carve sign. During the software portion, participants will create a sign using Vectric VCarve and develop a toolpath. Followed by instruction on how to secure a blank, the parts, the operation and safe use of a CNC. A demonstration of a V-Carved sign concludes the seminar. Lathe Turning for Food Lovers

Make your own wood-handled pizza cutter and ice cream scoop. This class will cover mounting workpieces on the lathe,turning handle profiles with various lathe tools, attaching handles to utensils, and applying finishes. Materials included in tuition. Wooden Spoon Making

Add some beautiful wooden spoons to your kitchen utensils collection. Learn the basics of shape and design, using the spoke shave and carving chisels to create an amazing spoon that you can actually use. Materials included in tuition. Beer Flight

Thursday, December 19, 5 PM - 8 PM

Happy Hour at the shop is a simple woodworking project completed in a couple hours, capped off with a sample from a local brewery. Come make a beer flight of your own, crafted from locally sourced urban timber, acrylic, and fitted for a set of 5 glasses you'll get to take home with you. Materials included.

Router Table Techniques

In this class you will learn to use your router more fully as a precise joint maker, pattern cutter, edger (jointer), and additional router table techniques. Corn Hole Anyone?

Come make your very own corn hole set. Using several tools around our shop, like the table saw, router and miter saw, you’ll have a great time working on this great project. Building this project is sure to give you pride in your accomplishment and even help you win your next game. Bowl Turning

Gary's basic bowl class concentrates on the craft of making a wooden bowl for everyday practical use. The basics of wood selection, mounting the wood to the lathe, design elements and the use of bowl gouges to turn and shape the bowl. Sanding and finishing will also be discussed. Spray Finishing Techniques

Spraying a finish on your project is like the holy grail of woodwork finishing, yet the process intimidates so many people for fear of ruining all of their hard work. This class is designed to take the guesswork out of the finishing process with hands-on practice and will teach you: types of finish to spray, thinning of finish, and types of spray guns. After taking this class, you will have the confidence to finish your next project like a pro and take your skills to the next level. Tablesaw Techniques & Safety

This class is designed for those who want to learn the basics of table saw use and for those who want to increase their knowledge of the many available accessories and jigs. The instructor will cover table saw safety, setup and tuning. He will cover the uses of the fence and miter gauge, blade types, and blade uses. Please bring eye, hearing protection and dust mask. Cabinet Construction

Learn how to plan, cut, assemble and mount an upper and lower cabinet. In addition, learn how to make a style and rail door with a flat panel along with how to mount euro hinges and drawer slides to the cabinets and adjust them properly. Materials included in tuition. Spindle Turning

Saturday, January 4, 8 AM - 4 PM

For the beginner or anyone needing a refresher course on the basics of spindle turning this class is for you. Instruction will include tool selection, proper handling techniques and creating the basic spindle profiles. You will have time to practice your new skills and then turn a shop mallet. River Table Top

Part 1: Tuesday, January 7, 6 PM - 9 PM

Part 2: Tuesday, January 14, 5 PM - 9 PM

Learn how colored epoxy adds a creative zest to wood projects. Here we will make a small table top, approx. 22" x 16", which will make a nice coffee table or end table. First day: make the mold, prep the wood, mix the liquid acrylic and color agent, and pour it into the mold. Second day: After the acrylic has cured we will remove the wood from the mold and use the planer, jointer, and drum sander to clean up the surfaces. Legs can be added for additional purchase. Waterfall Bench

Liven up your entry space with this continuous grain Waterfall Bench. Learn to use the Festool Track Saw and Domino to align and strengthen your joinery, while creating your waterfall grain leg. Learn several woodworking techniques and how to use the table saw and router table with precision while making your own picture frame. Lathe Tool Sharpening

Discover the techniques to sharpen your lathe tools in a quick, accurate and repeatable way. Porter Cable Dovetails

Friday, January 10, 6 PM - 9 PM

We will introduce you to making machine cut dovetails with your Porter Cable Dovetail jig and a router. What at first may appear difficult, will become easy for you, after watching the set up procedure and practicing the proper technique. Trouble shooting errors will be covered.
