Description: Somewhere in the wood working process, a metal edge comes between you and your project. That metal edge is used to shape, fit, and smooth your work. The correct sharpness and profile of that metal edge will help determine not only the quality of your work, but also your enjoyment of the process. This class will teach you how to properly sharpen bench chisels, plane irons, and other flat edge tools. We will discuss different metals and how they affect tool performance, proper edge geometry, assessment of the degree of sharpening required on a particular tool, and how different sharpening methods affect the final edge. You will have the opportunity to sharpen one of your flat edge tools to a razor edge!
