New Woodworking Beginnings

Part 1: Thursday, June 4, 2026, 6 PM - 9 PM

Part 2: Saturday, June 6, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

This woodworking beginning class has been very popular. The project stool will have two steps, a stable platform, and the first step can be raised to form the stool into a small chair. This will make it a very handy item to place in the bathroom or kitchen to allow a young child to reach the sink or it can be put in the family room and use it as small chair made just for them. Plus, it still works as step stool for adults to reach the top shelf in the kitchen or a closet. This class will introduce you to everything you need to progress from selecting wood for a project, to preparing it for finishing. It is designed for the person who knows nothing about woodworking but wants to learn the basics. We will use the table saw, jointer, planer, band saw, and other tools, as well as offering a discussion on several hand tools, all with an emphasis on safety. This is a great class for anyone wanting to see if woodworking is for them.

"Date Night" Cutting Board

Friday, June 12, 2026, 6 PM - 9 PM

The price for this class is per couple. This date night class is a great way for you and your partner to learn to make your own cutting board (approximately 8” x 16”). In this class, we will start with pre-cut wood strips of exotic woods. We will also discuss the techniques of cutting the wood to specific sizes needed for the cutting board. The process will introduce you to the thickness planer and orbital sander. The cutting board will be finished with food safe mineral oil which will bring out the beauty of the wood.

Turn A Lidded Box

Saturday, June 13, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

This class will introduce you to everything you need to know in order to turn a beautiful cherry box with a contrasting lid. A box like this makes a fabulous keepsake holder for those small treasures that your loved-ones want to keep secure. Bill will discuss design options, and how they relate to laying out, planning, and turning the box.
