Description: Students will start by learning about proper proportions. Then you will mount a blank in the chuck, rough out the blank and begin hollowing the end grain. Students will then make a lidded box by hollowing the box and lid, fitting them together, and turning away the mounting tenons. Safety is emphasized while students sharpen the bowl gouge and scraper, mount the wood, and make the end grain hollowing cuts. After this class, students should be able to make a lidded box on their own
Prerequisite: Spindle I Turning Class

Advanced Turned Lidded Box-CLS589

Tools Required: Full face mask. Please bring your own tools. A 1/4" (or smaller) spindle gouge is required.
Description: In this class you will focus on turning small lidded boxes. This is a three level class, during the first period you will learn how to turn a miniature lidded box and turn a lidded box. The second session, you will turn a second miniature lidded box with a pedestal. The third session, you will turn a miniature lidded box with a pedestal and finial on top. At the end of the class you will be able to turn miniature, decorative lidded boxes that will be great gift ideas.
