End Grain Cutting Board

Part 1: Monday, June 15, 2026, 6 PM - 9 PM

The instructor will guide students through the entire process of creating an eye-catching end grain cutting board, from selecting the right hardwood to applying the perfect finish. This stunning kitchen accessory may look challenging, but it's amazingly easy to make thanks to a simple trick for creating the lively geometric pattern. Over the course of these two-day sessions, participants will learn to use various power tools and master gluing and clamping techniques, ensuring they complete their own unique and beautifully finished pieces.

Introduction to Cabinet Making

Part 1: Saturday, June 20, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 2: Sunday, June 21, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

In this hands-on class, each student will complete a 15" face frame style base cabinet with drawer and a Shaker-Style door. Cabinet styles and design considerations will be discussed that can be adapted for several different applications including kitchen cabinets, entertainment centers, and bookcases. Construction of the cabinet carcass, face frame and drawer will employ the Kreg Joinery system and construction of the raised panel door will utilize the traditional cope and stick method. Additional joinery techniques for the carcass, face frame, drawer and door will be discussed. You will learn the safe and proper use of the table saw, compound miter saw, router table and finishing sander as you complete the project.

Wood Carving

In Out of My Mind Carving with Steve Wilensky, participants will learn from a master carver with a unique talent for revealing whimsical characters hidden within any piece of wood. Steve’s approach is all about creativity and intuition—guiding each student to carve out the figure that “wants to come out” of the wood. The day begins with an overview of essential skills, including how to handle, manipulate, and keep carving tools sharp while prioritizing safety. With Steve’s expert guidance, students will enjoy the peaceful rhythm of carving, allowing their imaginations to shape delightful, one-of-a-kind characters. This relaxing class is perfect for anyone eager to explore the art of whimsical woodcarving in an inspiring, hands-on environment.
