In this class, the Student will expand upon what they have already learned by using the bandsaw and router, in addition to the tools learned in the previous class, to build a Shaker Side Table. The student will learn how to make the mortise and tenon joint using the Festool Domino tool, a simple Dovetail Drawer, as well as how to add a taper to a leg.

Kumiko is a quiet and thoughtful technique that requires patience and precision. The ancient Japanese woodworking technique consists of making patterns from small pieces of interlocking wood. In this course, your instructor would walk you through the steps needed to create delicate pieces of art with wood. Discover how to seamlessly blend art and craftsmanship by mastering the use of geometry, patterns, and clean lines. Take your woodworking skill to the next level. By the end of the course every student will have created a small tea box with a Kumiko pattern on the lid.

Discover the art of wood veneering in this hands-on class! Participants will learn how to apply thin slices of beautiful wood to create stunning decorative surfaces. Perfect for beginners and experienced woodworkers. Some of the subjects covered in this course: Design basics, project planning, choosing veneers, cutting your own veneers, relaxing wrinkled veneers, glues, substrates, clamping methods, slicing vs. sawing, hiding seams and joints, sanding, grain filling, coloring and topcoats. An introduction to marquetry and parquetry is included. By the end of the class, you’ll have made your own double book-matched veneer panel showing your craftsmanship and attention to detail. No experience needed—just bring your creativity and enjoy the process!
