Do you and your significant other want to try something different on "Date Night?" Why not learn basic wood working skills and have fun creating a one-of-a-kind project together? We will provide the food, soft drinks, and materials. You only need to show up and be ready to make some saw dust. In this class you will make a charcuterie board which will involve working with a band saw, router and various sanding tools. You will also make a cheese knife which will include attaching knife scales and shaping the handle. This will involve use of a scroll saw and various sanding tools. Basics Of Pyrography (Woodburning)

This class is designed for the beginning pyrographer (woodburner). You will learn about the different pyrography tools available, where to look for project designs, materials to use for your projects, safety, pattern transfers, pyrography styles and color options, maintenance of your equipment, and will have discussion about finishing your work as part of the introduction to pyrography. A practice board will be used for you to learn about the four primary nibs, how to hold your pens, factors affecting your design, temperature issues, and shading. A small project will also be created during the class. You are encouraged to bring your own woodburning tools to the class. The first two students requesting it may use the two classroom woodburners that are available. In this class you will learn to make hand cut Mortise & Tenons. The mortise and tenon is arguably the most used joint in woodworking, from heavy timber structures still standing after thousands of years to delicate cabinet doors which are most often associated with quality workmanship in woodworking. Do you love Lego things. Then this is the class for you! In this class you will learn the fundamentals of woodworking from how the timber is grown and harvested to completing your own finished projects. Safety is the number one objective in using any tool and what will be emphasized strongly in this class. We will discuss and review how to take care of and to properly use hand and power tools. You will learn to layout, cut, assemble and finish. It is amazing to see the pride on a child's face when they build their own Lego coat/hat rack and bring it home for years of use! Chip Carving 103-A: Laying out a 10" Rimmed Plate

Description: Ever wanted to carve a plate to commemorate a special day or to add decoration to your home but not sure where to start? Carved plates make excellent home decorations and serve as great gifts to friends and family! This class is a advancement of Chip Carving 100: Fundamentals to Laying Out Project Boards. Woodcraft will provide an 10” plate and tools needed to layout your project. You are welcome to bring your own design for the center portion of the plate (no larger than 4” diameter) or choose one from the instructor to use. You will also learn how to create templates to use around the rim of the plate. Please note that this process takes time and the layout process may not be completed within the allocated time; however, you will have the appropriate instruction and details needed to finish the project at home. Depending on your chosen design, you may need to attain a tracing pad/light box to make special templates. One will be brought to class to demonstrate the process. In this beginner class we will explain the steps and necessary equipment and products to produce acrylic pen blanks. Using Alumilite Clear Slow and adding dyes or Alumidust, for a unique look, you will produce a one-of-a-kind pen blank, pouring your mix in a form. The final step, to insure there are no bubbles, will be to place your creation in a pressure pot for an overnight cure.
