An intermediate class to demonstrate and practice more advanced capabilities of the Shaper Origin. Geared towards those who either have a Shaper or have used it in some capacity. If you have a Shaper, bring it. In the morning we will go over Shaper Plate, Workstation and Plate. After a brief lunch, you will use your own shaper to practice and troubleshoot a small project of your choice using Tape only. No Shaper, no problem. Students can alternate using Woodcraft's Shaper, Experience with the Shaper Origin is highly encouraged. Intro to Shaper Origin class is offered bi-monthly and is a prerequisite to this class if you have limited or no experience using the Shaper Origin.

Have you ever wondered if CNC could be a useful tool to add to your shop? Are you curious about the process of operating this type of equipment? This class is for you! In this introductory CNC class we will explore the basic workflow and operation of CNC routers. This includes a step by step demonstration of the process. We will explain how to move from idea into design software, creating toolpaths, and finally to cutting simple parts on the machine. The class is focused on the basics of CNC and will provide an introduction to tooling, speeds and feeds, work holding, cutting strategies and beginner level design software. This also includes an overview of machine anatomy, function and features, as well as an open class curriculum style that encourages any and all questions. We will be focusing primarily on Vectric software and be running a Next Wave Shark CNC router for demonstration, but the concepts will translate well to any other machine.
