Introduction To Pyrography

Parent must accompany students under 18. This class provides an introduction to wood pyrography, the art form of decorating wood by burning a design on the surface with a wood burning tool using stencils or freehand designs. We provide the tools and wood for this class.

Wooden Sword

Tuesday, November 10, 2026, 10 AM - 4 PM

Daydreaming of making your own sword? Stop dreaming and start making! Students will learn to design and create a sword from hardwood, with hand tools and a bandsaw. In this class you will learn safety, bandsaw and basic hand tool skills, making a mortise and tenon, and shaping with a rasp. Hand tool only methods for making a sword will also be discussed. Upon completion, your sword will be functional for props, role-play, or even a night of D&D! This class is beginner friendly, no skills or tools required. Just bring yourself, and have fun. Minimum age 13 No parent required however students under age 18 must be able to follow directions, stay safe and focused. You'll have a 30 minute break at midpoint to grab a quick drink and snack.

Have you ever wondered if CNC could be a useful tool to add to your shop? Are you curious about the process of operating this type of equipment? This class is for you! In this introductory CNC class we will explore the basic workflow and operation of CNC routers. This includes a step by step demonstration of the process. We will explain how to move from idea into design software, creating toolpaths, and finally to cutting simple parts on the machine. The class is focused on the basics of CNC and will provide an introduction to tooling, speeds and feeds, work holding, cutting strategies and beginner level design software. This also includes an overview of machine anatomy, function and features, as well as an open class curriculum style that encourages any and all questions. We will be focusing primarily on Vectric software and be running a Next Wave Shark CNC router for demonstration, but the concepts will translate well to any other machine.

Ray will focus on the fingernail bowl gouge as the primary tool and will teach you how to complete your piece with a perfect bottom. He will also explain the various methods for mounting your blank on the lathe and discuss wall thickness, design and turning speed.

Minimum Age 18. In this class you'll take cutting boards to the next level. We'll create an end-grain board with both juice grooves and routed hand holds. We'll also demonstrate how to create a custom juice groove jig for making cutting boards in your own shop!

Minimum age 18. Take your Pyrography skills to the next level with artist Amy Herringshaw. In this class Amy will teach you the skill of line quality and control, and the application of shading using different pen tips. Minimum age 18. Spend a weekend with Woodcraft and leave with a traditional Adirondack chair. This course is designed for the intermediate level woodworker with some experience using both power and hand tools to cut, drill, sand and assemble this classic chair. Instructions, templates, lumber, and fasteners are included in the tuition.

Woodworking with Epoxy Resins

Saturday, February 6, 2027, 10 AM - 2 PM

In this class Claire will teach you how to use artist resins in your everyday woodworking projects turning your ordinary piece of wood into a work of art. You will use the Total Boat Makerpoxy Artist's resin. Students will practice mixing and pouring the epoxy on plywood first. The last epoxy pour will be on a piece of wood prepped for them. Students will be able to pick up their projects the next day. You can either make it a charcuterie board or even just a piece of artwork to hang up in your home and you do not have to be an artist! This class allows you to create and leave with a technique that you can add to just about any woodworking project! Please do not wear flip flops, loose clothing or clothing that you wouldn't want damaged in case of possible drips from the epoxy. :)

Intro To CNC

Have you ever wondered if CNC could be a useful tool to add to your shop? Are you curious about the process of operating this type of equipment? This class is for you! In this introductory CNC class we will explore the basic workflow and operation of CNC routers. This includes a step by step demonstration of the process. We will explain how to move from idea into design software, creating toolpaths, and finally to cutting simple parts on the machine. The class is focused on the basics of CNC and will provide an introduction to tooling, speeds and feeds, work holding, cutting strategies and beginner level design software. This also includes an overview of machine anatomy, function and features, as well as an open class curriculum style that encourages any and all questions. We will be focusing primarily on Vectric software and be running a Next Wave Shark CNC router for demonstration, but the concepts will translate well to any other machine.

Upper Cabinet Construction

Minimum Age 18. This class will take the mystery out of building upper cabinets. It will include design, face frame versus frameless construction and doors. During the class, students will collectively make one upper cabinet from scratch.

Beginning Wood Carving

Parent must accompany students under 18. This class is designed for those who are interested in beginning carving as a woodworking hobby. You will be introduced to a variety of basic carving knife profiles, how and when they are used, proper care and sharpening. Minimum age 18. A great introduction to the Shaper Origin and its capabilities. Whether you are a new user or wondering if this is the right tool for your shop, this class will explore the basic workflow and operation of the Shaper. We’ll cover the basics of the machine itself from scan and design to cut. There will be an opportunity for each student to make a cut on the Shaper. Come and experience the many things you can do with this machine. Previous router experience required.

Bowl Turning: Mastering The Bowl Gouge

Minimum Age 18. If you want to learn how to turn bowls on the lathe, this class is for you. Ray will focus on the fingernail bowl gouge as the primary tool and will teach you how to complete your piece with a perfect bottom. He will also explain the various methods for mounting your blank on the lathe and discuss wall thickness, design and turning speed.

Wooden Sword

Daydreaming of making your own sword? Stop dreaming and start making! Students will learn to design and create a sword from hardwood, with hand tools and a bandsaw. In this class you will learn safety, bandsaw and basic hand tool skills, making a mortise and tenon, and shaping with a rasp. Hand tool only methods for making a sword will also be discussed. Upon completion, your sword will be functional for props, role-play, or even a night of D&D! This class is beginner friendly, no skills or tools required. Just bring yourself, and have fun. Minimum age 13 No parent required however students under age 18 must be able to follow directions, stay safe and focused.

Sharpening Basics

Minimum Age 18. Students will learn to lay out and hand cut through and half blind dovetails. At the end of this class, you will be able to plan your projects around the pinnacle of woodworking joints...the dovetail. Tuition includes a new, personal chisel for each student.

Adirondack Chair

Minimum age 18. Spend a weekend with Woodcraft and leave with a traditional Adirondack chair. This course is designed for the intermediate level woodworker with some experience using both power and hand tools to cut, drill, sand and assemble this classic chair. Instructions, templates, lumber, and fasteners are included in the tuition.

Shaper Origin 2.0

Sunday, April 18, 2027, 10 AM - 4 PM

Minimum age 18. An intermediate class to demonstrate and practice more advanced capabilities of the Shaper Origin. Geared towards those who either have a Shaper or have used it in some capacity. If you have a Shaper, bring it. In the morning we will go over Shaper Plate, Workstation and Plate. After a brief lunch, you will use your own shaper to practice and troubleshoot a small project of your choice using Tape only. No Shaper, no problem. Students can alternate using Woodcraft's Shaper, Experience with the Shaper Origin is highly encouraged. Intro to Shaper Origin class is offered bi-monthly and is a prerequisite to this class if you have limited or no experience using the Shaper Origin.

Advanced Box Building

Minimum age 18. Building a box for the storage of keepsakes or mementos. In this class you will seal the box interior using a locking miter joint; line the box, and properly fit the lid on the box. We discuss modifications to adopt to various uses and differing interior treatments like flocking.

Minimum Age 18. This class builds on the foundations established in our Fundamentals class taking your woodworking skills to the next level. With the aid of major power tools and the Leigh jig, you will build a dovetailed blanket chest with lifting top and decorative feet. Joinery, wood preparation and lamination are a key focus. This is an intermediate level class requiring completion of "Fundamentals of Woodworking" as a prerequisite. Stop in to see examples of your finished product.

Lumber Milling And Prep

Woodworking with Epoxy Resins

Saturday, May 8, 2027, 10 AM - 2 PM

In this class Claire will teach you how to use artist resins in your everyday woodworking projects turning your ordinary piece of wood into a work of art. You will use the Total Boat Makerpoxy Artist's resin. Students will practice mixing and pouring the epoxy on plywood first. The last epoxy pour will be on a piece of wood prepped for them. Students will be able to pick up their projects the next day. You can either make it a charcuterie board or even just a piece of artwork to hang up in your home and you do not have to be an artist! This class allows you to create and leave with a technique that you can add to just about any woodworking project! Please do not wear flip flops, loose clothing or clothing that you wouldn't want damaged in case of possible drips from the epoxy. :)

Combine this class with a little practice and you can become a woodturner.

Minimum age 18. Take your Pyrography skills to the next level with artist Amy Herringshaw. In this class Amy will teach you the skill of line quality and control, and the application of shading using different pen tips. With these skills students will be able to burn realistic projects creating a still life scene. All supplies are included however, students are welcome to bring their own equipment if they prefer.
