You will be taught several different methods that can be used to keep your tools sharp and effective. You will be learning how to sharpen all of the basic lathe tools. This is a "must have" class for beginning woodturners.
Designed for a beginner, this intensive 4-day course will teach you the skills needed to build a basic, “T” style electric guitar. We provide all the materials for the body and include an assembled neck and hardware to complete the guitar. During the first 3 days you will use table saw, jointer, planer, clamps, drum sander, router/router table, drill press, hand sanders, and other hand tools to build the body, set the neck and install the hardware. Following a guitar finish discussion, you are responsible for applying a finish your guitar body (and neck if needed) before returning for the final day where the guitar will be completed including installation of the electronics. (You provide the finishing materials. The 10% class discount would apply to items purchased in the store.)
Does [Epoxy + Colored Powders + Wood] seem a little mysterious and scary? In this class an experienced instructor will demystify the process. You'll be working with wood, epoxy, and colors to make a beautiful, one-of-a-kind charcuterie board. You'll start by preparing your wood and continue through sanding and finishing to learn all of the steps. You'll learn to use molds, make molds, mix colorants and resin, conduct deep pours, de-mold, sand, and apply a final finish. During the first session you'll do everything through pouring the epoxy. During the final session you'll demold and finish your unique project.
This workshop is designed for those who have recently gotten a wood lathe, or have had one for a while, and haven't gotten around to using it until now. During this workshop students get acquainted with the wood lathe and its parts and accessories. We will cover the turning process, as well as sanding and applying finish to a project while it's on the lathe. Students will also be shown a variety of turning tools and how they function. You will also be introduced to wood selection, tool selection, and tool sharpening. Students will test their skills while working on a small turning project. Students should bring suitable eye protection such as safety glasses, goggles, or a face shield. If you have problems with wood dust, a respirator or dust mask would be advisable. Also bring any wood turning tools you might have. Tools and safety gear will be provided for those who don't own them. Materials for turning will be provided.

Alex will review all aspects of a multitude of topics, such as tune-up, blade selection, guide adjustments and selection, resawing, and scroll cutting, as well as an overview of all the latest and greatest bandsaw accessories.
In this two-part, two-project class you'll create a puzzle box and an elegantly designed bandsaw box. Alex will cover several types of boxes and demonstrate techniques such as curves, unusual shapes, finishing techniques, and setting up the bandsaw to maximize shop time.

During this class, each student will turn an end grain box with a suction fit lid. The students will be using a variety of turning tools, chucking methods, and jam-chucking techniques. We will also be discussing design options, aesthetics, and various finishing techniques.
