Making A Resin Blank and Pen

Part 1: Thursday, June 4, 2026, 2 PM - 6 PM

Part 2: Saturday, June 6, 2026, 1 PM - 5 PM

Customized pen blanks give you the opportunity to really elevate your pen making. In this two part class you will learn how to cast a pen blank – and then turn that blank into your own custom pen! Week one will focus on resin casting basics including resin types, colorants, molds, and pressure pots. You’ll select colorants, mix your resin and pour it into the mold. Then, in week two, you will come back to the shop to de-mold your pen blank, drill it, insert the tubes and turn your pen!

The 4th of July is just around the corner! What better time to make some BBQ and campfire tools. We will make either a Pig Tail for flipping meats or a Hot Dog fork, Focusing on spindle turning, you will be guided on how to effectively produce handles that have a multitude of uses. Learn the basics of traditional wood turning tools, lathe operation, tool sharpening, and perhaps a few "cheater" short cuts. Tools covered will include the spindle gouge, skew chisel, jacobs chuck and drill bits. Additionally, a recap of the basics of lathe operation, safety, and turning techniques and go home with a project you'll be proud to show your family and friends.
