Build an Heirloom Cutting Board

Part 1: Monday, August 31, 2026, 10 AM - 3 PM

Part 2: Tuesday, September 8, 2026, 10 AM - 3 PM

Create a beautiful, heirloom-quality hardwood cutting board while learning the essential woodworking techniques used in furniture and fine woodworking. Starting with rough lumber, you'll experience every step of the process, from milling and material preparation to shaping, sanding, and applying a food-safe finish. On the first day, students will learn how to safely mill rough lumber flat and square, prepare stock to final thickness, design an attractive board layout, and accurately cut and arrange strips for glue-up. You'll also learn proper glue application and clamping techniques to ensure a strong, durable panel. On the second day, you'll remove the panel from the clamps and transform it into a finished cutting board. Students will flatten and trim the board to its final dimensions, use a router to create decorative edges, juice grooves, and comfortable handles, then complete the project with progressive sanding and the application of a food-safe finish. By the end of class, you'll leave with a handcrafted hardwood cutting board and the knowledge and confidence to build future boards in a variety of sizes and designs.

This class will focus on techniques to quickly craft a pepper grinder with tips and tricks to produce a consistent beautiful piece of functional art. This class also recap the basics of lathe operation, and safety.

Turn a Wood Box

Skill Series: Drill Press Basics

The drill press is one of the most valuable and versatile machines in the woodworking shop, yet many woodworkers only scratch the surface of its capabilities. Whether you're new to woodworking or looking to improve your accuracy and confidence, this hands-on class will teach you the fundamentals of safe and precise drill press operation. Students will learn the essential techniques for selecting the proper drill bits, choosing the correct spindle speed, setting drilling depths, and producing clean, accurate holes in a variety of woodworking applications. You'll also learn how to prevent tear-out, safely secure workpieces, and use common drill press accessories to improve precision and repeatability. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you'll gain experience drilling through holes, blind holes, counterbores, countersinks, and flat-bottom holes using a variety of drill bits. By the end of class, you'll understand how to safely set up and operate a drill press while producing professional-quality results

Making A Resin Blank and Pen

Part 1: Thursday, September 10, 2026, 2 PM - 6 PM

Part 2: Saturday, September 12, 2026, 12 PM - 4 PM

Customized pen blanks give you the opportunity to really elevate your pen making. In this two part class you will learn how to cast a pen blank – and then turn that blank into your own custom pen! Week one will focus on resin casting basics including resin types, colorants, molds, and pressure pots. You’ll select colorants, mix your resin and pour it into the mold. Then, in week two, you will come back to the shop to de-mold your pen blank, drill it, insert the tubes and turn your pen!

Epoxy/Burl Bowl

Part 1: Friday, September 11, 2026, 10 AM - 2 PM

Part 2: Saturday, September 19, 2026, 10 AM - 2 PM

Create a truly one-of-a-kind bowl by combining the natural beauty of burl wood with the vibrant possibilities of epoxy resin. In this exciting two-day class, students will learn the complete process of designing, casting, and turning an epoxy and burl bowl from start to finish. On Day One, students will prepare and stabilize their burl, design and build a reusable casting mold, and learn the fundamentals of working with casting epoxy. The instructor will cover resin selection, calculating pour volumes, mixing techniques, adding pigments or metallic powders, minimizing bubbles, and proper curing procedures. Each student will cast their own custom bowl blank using premium burl and colored epoxy. After the resin has fully cured, students will return for Day Two to remove their casting from the mold and transform it into a finished bowl on the wood lathe. Students will learn proper mounting techniques, safe bowl-turning practices, tool selection, shaping, sanding, and finishing methods that highlight both the wood and the epoxy. Throughout the class, emphasis is placed on safety, planning, and techniques that produce professional-quality results. Every bowl is unique, ensuring that no two students will take home the same project.

Learn how to easily make an epoxy river charcuterie board by making a mold,mix and color epoxy, pour the epoxy, sand, and finish. Come join us for a two part class and learn how to easily make an epoxy river charcuterie board. On day one, you will learn how to custom make a mold, cut and prep a live edge slab, and mix and color the epoxy. Day two will be all about de-molding, cutting to final dimension, edge treatments, and final sanding and polishing Your finished board will measure approximately 20"x12"X1" and be a great gift idea for a loved one, or a perfect conversation piece at your next party.

Tis the Season! Ring in the holidays by crafting an elegant Christmas ornament. Learn the basics of woodturning while you turn a simple piece of wood into a thing of beauty. This class will cover the basics of lathe operation, turning tool types and selection, safety, tool maintenance, and turning techniques needed to create your one-of-a-kind ornaments. Class time should allow for the completion of two finished ornaments, and you’ll have three finial options to choose from. Ornaments make a great gift for co-workers, gift exchanges, or neighbors!
