Learn to construction your own cabinets! In this class each student will produce a 24” wide base cabinet with a drawer. You'll learn to break down sheet goods, build the cabinet box, and build a face frame door. The cabinet box will be made from ¾” veneered plywood and the shaker style door will be constructed from hardwood cherry for the stiles and rails. The door will be mounted with soft close hidden hinges. Your cabinet will be unfinished at the end of class and you will finish it at home. This is a three session class.

Sharpening Chisels and Planes

Edge tools such as chisels and planes must be razor sharp to perform at their best.  This 3-hour class will teach the basic techniques to achieve that sharpness.  Instructor Chuck Luttrell will explain and demonstrate his method for sharpening chisels and plane irons.  As part of the class fee students will receive the necessary jig and stones to create their own sharpening kit:  a Veritas Mk.II Standard Honing Guide, a King 250X1000 water stone, a Shapton 4000 glass stone, a Shapton 8000 glass stone, and a Norton Truing stone.  Not included, but must be provided by the students are and used during the class -  a shallow lipped 9 x 13 baking sheet/pan to serve as a base for the sharpening stones, a sealable plastic tub or food container to store the stones in, and a plastic spray bottle.
