In this class we will build a small tool tote using simple joinery. Pocket holes, dadoes and finger
joints all will be discussed. Tools used will include the table saw, drill press, band saw and router
table. Each student will have the opportunity to use the tools and practice the skills demonstrated.
Each student will build the components needed to assemble a small tool tote.
This class simplifies spoon carving from wood. The rough shape is already cut from basswood. The final shaping will be done using a carving gouge and rasp. The finished spoon can be either functional in the kitchen or a decorative piece. Different types of finishes will also be discussed.
Learn how to make your bowls stand out with texture and color. In this class you will turn a bowl with a wider rim and learn Colin's technique to add texture by power carving onto the bowl. In this class we will build a small tool tote using simple joinery. Pocket holes, dadoes and finger
joints all will be discussed. Tools used will include the table saw, drill press, band saw and router
table. Each student will have the opportunity to use the tools and practice the skills demonstrated.
Each student will build the components needed to assemble a small tool tote.
We will start with an introduction to the process of wood burning and review samples of artwork created by the instructor. We’ll introduce the wood burner: show it being used, heat settings, different nibs and what patterns they make.
Students will create their own project on a 7" to 9" basswood round by sketching a design on the wood, burning the outline and adding details using shading and other techniques and the project will ready to finish and display.
You will learn the basics of putting wooden knife scales (handles) on a knife kit.
Each student will learn to take a set of wood scales, rough shape them for a knife handle, attach them to the knife and finish shape the handle. Different methods of applying a finish will be discussed.
A bandsaw, scroll saw, belt sander, disc sander, spindle sander and drill press may be used.
Class length may vary due to class size and students' skill levels.
All supplies will be provided.
