Learn to turn a traditional woodturner's Christmas ornament with resident expert Chip Siskey. In this class we will turn and assemble a three piece Christmas ornament with a hollow globe. We will discuss several shapes and options to help you make an ornament of your own design. The resulting ornament will be ready for the tree, or can be displayed on an ornament holder year round. This is an excellent skill building exercise incorporating a small hollow form and spindle turning.

the basic concept of turning friction fitted lidded boxes. Chip will share his knowledge of turning
different style boxes including tenon boxes, inset-lidded boxes and hollow lidded boxes. From there,

NEW CLASS - Twice turning is one of the most popular methods of dealing with the natural shrinking and warping of turnings. In this case a bowl is rough turned and left thick to dry and wrap, then when the blank is dry, it is turned again to a finished product. In this class, we will discuss this and other methods of turning a finished bowl. Then we will turn a finished bowl from a roughed-out bowl blankthat has warped as it has dried for well over a year. This class is a unique opportunity to learn how to deal with the most challenging part of the twice turned method.
