Michael will provide hands-on teaching as each students turns a medium-size bowl about 5-6 inches in diameter. Students will learn how to mount a bowl blank to the lathe using several different methods and which tools to use and how to use them to make clean efficient cuts. HANDS-ON. Mark Seay has come up with a great Table Saw Box Class. Mark is a wonderful teacher and his hands-on style of teaching really helps everyone learn about "how" to do woodworking! Students will make a small Keepsake Box from two contrasting woods on the table saw. The little box will have spline cut corners with contrasting wood splines to give it strength. The contrasting splines will give the box an extra sharp look. This is a really great looking little box and would make a wonderful gift for that someone special.

HANDS-ON. Chisels, scrapers, planes and saws are the most fundamental woodworking tools in the shop. Howard will provide hands-on instruction on how to sharpen, adjust and use each of these great tools. Students will practice "old world" basic exercises with each tool. Tool #1: Learn basic chisel techniques and how to cut a mortise for a hinge faster than any machine takes to set up. Tool #2: Learn how to use a cabinet scraper as a step toward applying a fine finish. Tool #3: Learn how great using a hand plane can be. HANDS-ON. We have a great new class that will cover the basics of wide Crown Molding work on the Router Table using our new line of Freud Crown Molding Bits. This hands-on class will have students using the router table to cut some molding and then build a small decortive shelf with mitered corners. You will learn router table and feather board setup, alignment and height transistion for the two router bits and how to make the top and bottom finishing cuts so the molding will fit perfect along the ceiling and wall. Finishing For The Home Shop

LECTURE/DEMO. Confused with all the different ways to finish your project? Learn simple "old world" finishing from a student of Fine Woodworking's contributing editor and woodworking master, Tage Frid. This class will teach the four finishes that will easily work for the home shop. Demos will show how to prepare the wood for finishing, using everything from the thickness planer, to cabinet scraper, to the proper way to use sandpaper. Then learn the easy steps to apply a traditional oil finish, spray lacquer, varnish and French polish. Students will receive handy take-home notes detailing each of these finishes.

Cabinet Making For Beginners

LECTURE/DEMO. This is the perfect sister class for our popular Raised Panel Door Class. In this Lecture/Demo, students will learn how to build first-class looking cabinets for the kitchen, laundry room, bathroom or workshop. Learn how to build both the upper and lower units and how to install them for that perfect fit. Various joinery methods will be shown including Kreg Pocket Holes and Biscuits. Learn how to install Euro-style hinges with or without a face-frame, and also learn the tricks of the trade to installing drawer glides. This is a great class... don't miss it!

Finishing For The Home Shop

LECTURE/DEMO. Confused with all the different ways to finish your project? Learn simple "old world" finishing from a student of Fine Woodworking's contributing editor and woodworking master, Tage Frid. This class will teach the four finishes that will easily work for the home shop. Demos will show how to prepare the wood for finishing, using everything from the thickness planer, to cabinet scraper, to the proper way to use sandpaper. Then learn the easy steps to apply a traditional oil finish, spray lacquer, varnish and French polish. Students will receive handy take-home notes detailing each of these finishes.

Build An End-Grain Cutting Board

HANDS-ON. We have a GREAT KITCHEN CLASS from Doug Jones. Students will build, over the three nights, an End-Grain style Cutting Board from two contrasting types of wood. This 12" X 18" Cutting Board will be constructed from "End-Grain", not the Long-Grain of the boards. This traditional method of building a Cutting Board makes it VERY DURABLE. It will takes cuts from a knife and not show any damage for many years to come. Doug is a great woodworker and his hands-on approach to teaching will help you learn all the tricks for End-Grain cutting and glue-up. Band Saw Basics

HANDS-ON. ATTENTION ANYONE THAT HAS A BAND SAW! Are you a beginner or old-timer and have a Band Saw and not sure if it is working just right? Then this is the perfect class for you. This class will begin at "step one" on Band Saw setup and tuneup. Wheel alignment, blade selection, blade installation, cool blocks vs bearing guides and fine tuning will all be covered. Each student will do a setup and then cut a piece of perfect veneer. DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THIS CLASS! It is a MUST TAKE for anyone, beginner or old-timer, that uses this great machine. Basic Woodworking

You will learn how to set alignment and use the chop saw, table saw, jointer, planner, band saw, router table and a stationary sander. Safety will be emphasized with each machine. Each student will complete a hands-on project using basic joinery techniques. Types of wood and finishing techniques will also be discussed. Basic Turning

Part 1: Monday, March 10, 6 PM - 10 PM

HANDS-ON. Paul DeMars will teach this dynamic and fundamental, "3-session", class for all beginning turners. Session #1: Spindle Turning. This class is geared to help you get started on the lathe. Tool selection, handling, safety and machine basics will be covered. You will learn how to make cuts to produce beads, coves and other basic spindle shapes. Session #2: Bowl Turning/Face Grain. Perfect your basic skills by learning to turn a wooden bowl. Face plate turning, tool selection, techniques, sanding and finishing will be covered. Session #3: Bowl Turning/End- Grain. Learn to turn another style of bowl by it's end-grain. End-grain bowls are very different than face-grain bowls and will allow you to expand your turning skills. Paul is a great teacher and will provide each student with hands-on skills that will last a lifetime.

Turn A Lidded Box

HANDS-ON. PLEASE NO BEGINNERS. BASIC TURNING SKILLS NEEDED. We have a new Turning Class that will be a big hit! Michael Boyle will provide hands-on teaching as each student turns a small "coke-can" size box with a fitted lid. You will learn how to cut the lid off the main bowl body and then cut a lip on the lid, just right so, it "SNAPS" into place. This is a fun lathe project and will teach you valuable turning skills that will last a life time. Space is limited so, sign up A.S.A.P.

Basic Pen Turning Class

HANDS-ON. 14 Years and older, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We have a new Pen Instructor! Join Chuck Silber as he brings the world of pen turning to life. Pen turning on the lathe is a great hobby that can also make extra money. Chuck has a great hands-on approach to teaching and will show students all the steps of how to set up your lathe with the right mandrel and bushings for easy pen turning with great results. You will leave the class with a top notch looking pen and the skills needed to make many more.

Build A Spline Corner Keepsake Box

HANDS-ON. Mark Seay has come up with a great Table Saw Box Class. Mark is a wonderful teacher and his hands-on style of teaching really helps everyone learn about "how" to do woodworking! Students will make a small Keepsake Box from two contrasting woods on the table saw. The little box will have spline cut corners with contrasting wood splines to give it strength. The contrasting splines will give the box an extra sharp look. This is a really great looking little box and would make a wonderful gift for that someone special.

Raised Panel Doors

Part 1: Monday, March 17, 6 PM - 10 PM

HANDS-ON. Students will learn two great methods for making a raised panel door. Learn features for rail and stile design and the many looks the panel can have. Each student will make two small raised panel doors - one with the table saw and one with the router table. Students will receive a notebook outlining both methods.

You will learn different techniques of cut, fence and miter gauge work, Router bit selection and basic Router safety. Cutting dados, rabbets, slots, mitered corners and edge trim will be easy. Our Cutting Board Class Teacher, Doug Jones, has an awesome new class that will teach you how to combine Wood with the amazing Epoxy Pour Resins. Students will learn how the epoxy molds work, how to mix the epoxy and add color to create a one-of-a-kind Charcuterie /Cutting Board. The finish Board will measure about 1 x 8 x 18 inches. HANDS-ON. This is the perfect sister class to our popular Raised Panel Door class and Cabinet class. Students will learn all the ins-and-outs to make Glass Panel Doors on the router table. Don't under estimate the simple look of a glass door...there are a lot of details in making one but, CMT offers the wonderful Sommerfeld Glass Door router bit set that will have you making cuts that fit perfectly. Standard and Divided Light designs will be shown and students will take home a small finished door that a piece of glass could be installed in. Square Board Fundamentals
