In this class Students learn how to transfer patterns to non flat surfaces, such as bowls, vases, gourds and more. Student will transfer pattern and burn on a gourd or bowl.
Many of those who have played or even admired the beauty of the guitar have shown interest in someday making an heirloom instrument that can be played today and passed on and continued to be played for generations. This class is designed to take a beginner/intermediate woodworker through the steps to make a steel string acoustic guitar from a unique kit. You will learn the terminology and the techniques focused on many of the specialized processes to complete your own personalized intrument. The process is broken down into small steps to familiarize the student with the construction of the neck including truss rod intallation, fingerboard & fretting, abalone inlay and construction of the body including brace trimming/fitting, top installation, bridge gluing/alignment, purfling and final fit up of the neck to body joint using a bolt-on system. Each guitar will be comleted leaving the final top cote finish up to the student. The wood used in this class will be a Sepele body with a Spruce top.
Want to learn the basics of wood turning or refresh your skills from Jr. High shop class? This class covers the basics, including shop and lathe safety, tool identification and selection, mounting wood to the lathe and wood selection. In the first half of the class students will Learn safety, basic tools, how to cut with each basic tool and tool selection. In the second half they will work on a small project determined by the instructor. Skills learned in this class will prepare students for our more advanced classes. Please don't wear sweater type material. Wood chips stick to this and we don't want you to ruin clothing. Wear something you don't mind getting dusty. Bring eye protection and respiratory protection if you have it or safety glasses will be provided.
