Students will learn to build a picture frame and cut mat board. During this class Michaela will teach you how to build a frame from prepared wood and to professionally mat your own photo or 2D piece of art: 4x6 or 5x7 inches. Take home a finish frame or give it as a gift for the upcoming holidays. Students should bring a 4x6 or 5x7 inch photo or 2D art work.
Have you thought about turning a beautiful project on the lathe? Now you can, in this class we will turn a bowl. This will introduce you to end grain, as well as side grain and the challenges they bring. Louis will teach you the various parts of the lathe, proper safety, turning techniques, and a ton of useful tips. Finally, you will learn the various styles of finishing for your project. Join carver Jerry McNulty as he guides you through the steps of carving a full figure flat plane style carving using only a knife. This is a great follow up class to the intro to woodcarving class. Students are welcome from all levels. Basic cuts will be reviewed before the project is started.
