Marquetry & Inlay: An Introduction

Marquetry is the art of creating pictures with wood veneers. The pieces of veneer are chosen for color, grain and figure. Inlay is similar, except thicker wood is used. In this demonstration class, the instructor will show various techniques for marquetry and inlay, as well as go over the tools, supplies, materials, and sources to help get students started doing their own work. Each student is responsible for supplying their own paper and pencil.

Woodturning: Hollow Form

Take your turning to the next level! Learn the art of turning a hollow form. You will safely shape an elegant vessel utilizing specialized tools and techniques. The instructor will cover everything from wood selection and form design to tool selection and give you the skills you need to turn a hollow form. Students must provide their own hollowing tools similar to Easy Wood Tools Hollower #2 and #3. Students are required to bring both hollowing tools to this class. Each student is responsible for supplying their own safety glasses or face shield and hearing protection.

CNC I - An Introduction

If you have ever wanted to learn more about CNC machines then this is the class for you. This lecture class utilizes the Shark CNC Machine and VCarve Software. The instructor will start with the basics; how to set up a Shark CNC machine, what the display commands mean, and VCarve software setup. You will learn how to use the VCarve software including setting the work piece size and understanding the basic Icons. You will learn about designing objects, creating toolpaths, and saving your work. Each student is responsible for supplying their own personal laptop loaded with VCarve Pro Trial. Download VCarve Pro Trial at vectric.com/free-trial/vcarve-pro. This is a lecture class. The CNC machine will not be used during this class.
