Have you wanted to do projects such as kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, bookcases, and shop/storage cabinets? If so, this is the class for you. You will learn the common techniques for any of these projects. During this six hour class the instruction will include the selection of materials, dado and rabbet joinery, making face frames and raised panel doors providing you with the fundamental skills to apply to any of these types of projects. During the class, the instructor will build, with class participation, a wall cabinet to demonstrate the basic joinery methods for making the carcass and fabricating the face frame and raised panel doors.

Fundamentals Of Hand Tools - CLS640

Hand tools are a necessary part of woodworking project. After machining, you will need to smooth the surface of your work piece with a hand plane or maybe remove a small piece of wood to make the joint fit with a bench chisel. In this class different hand tools will be discussed and demonstrated. How to use a bench chisel to make a crisp edge, how to smooth and remove milling marks with a smoothing hand plane are just a few examples of what will be discussed and demonstrated. Multiple topics will be discussed such as: What are the different types of hand planes? What is the first hand plane to purchase? What is a good hand saw? How to use a marking gauge? These and other topics will be discussed to start you on your way to a great experience in purchasing and using hand tools.
