Fundamentals of Finishing

Saturday, June 7, 10 AM - 4 PM

What was originally two classes is now one. This class is an information filled journey through finishing. The morning of the class will be a lecture covering safety, the science of wood and finishes, and the differences between finishes. The afternoon will be hands-on, so be prepared to get a little messy. You’ll be learning proper sanding techniques, how to strip old finishes, applying different finishes and finally, spray techniques.

Casting Pen Blanks with Alumilite

Sunday, June 8, 12 PM - 4 PM

In this hands-on class, we will cover the use of Alumilite to create your own basic/custom "acrylic" pen blanks. We will discuss the use of dyes and pigments, pressure casting, open casting and different types of molds. You will mix and pour one single color pen blank during class. Because of the cure time required, students should plan to return the next day to retrieve their blank and mold. (We can ship it to you for a nominal fee should you prefer.)

Ultimate Epoxy Experience

Part 1: Saturday, June 14, 9 AM - 1 PM

Part 2: Sunday, June 15, 3 PM - 7 PM

Students who register for this class will receive 8+ hours of in depth instruction from Jess Crow, one of the nation's leading epoxy artist's and innovators. Topics covered include using molds, making molds, mixing colorants and resin, conducting deep pours, de-molding projects, sanding, and applying a final epoxy finish. In addition to the extra time spent with Jess in a smaller class setting, all students will receive one of the reusable resin molds to take home and use for future projects! You will be working on two projects throughout this class. One will be a multi-layered pour you will work over the two days and one will be done the first day of class and demolded the second day.
