Using full size templates, a bandsaw and a mix of finishing tools, you will produce your own wooden utensils to use. We also discuss appropriate types of woods, other tools you can use, finishes and care of your beautiful wooden utensils that you’ll be using in your kitchen for years to come.

Louis will introduce you to the most common tools in the shop and assure you understand how to operate each of them safely. You will also learn the essentials about wood grain and movement as you move through the milling process. Students will be paired up during the class, and will leave with a cutting/cheese board that will be a joy to show off This is a hands-on class so come ready to get dirty, have some fun, and create something beautiful!!! Students will learn to build a 10" x 10" Shadow Box with a glass front. During this class Michaela will teach you how to build a frame for your 3D artworks, trinkets, souvenirs, etc. You are welcome to bring the item or items you plan to put in your 10" x 10" shadow box. We will discuss different ways to finish or mount within your Shadow Box.
