Woodworking Fundamentals

with Brian Noble-Marx

Part 1: Saturday, April 11, 2026, 9 AM - 6 PM

Part 2: Sunday, April 12, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Minimum age 18. Each student will make a Shaker style table using the table saw, planer, jointer and router. Safety issues for each of these tools and others will be covered. Students will receive a good foundation for future woodworking endeavors by making a piece of furniture they will be proud to have completed. This is our most popular class - reserve your spot early.

Introduction To Pyrography

Parent must accompany students under 18. This class provides an introduction to wood pyrography, the art form of decorating wood by burning a design on the surface with a wood burning tool using stencils or freehand designs. We provide the tools and wood for this class.

Minimum Age 18. Do you and your significant other want to learn basic wood working skills and have fun creating a one of a kind project together? We will provide all the materials and safety equipment. You only need to show up and be ready to make some saw dust. Projects will vary from month to month and will consist of small projects such as cheese slicers, measuring cups & spoons and wine bottle holders.

We are happy to announce we are once again hosting the Artistry In Wood Carving Competition by the James River Wood Carving Club! Divisions and Awards: Awards sponsored by Woodcraft of Richmond. Visitors and guest of Woodcraft of Richmond will vote on each division. Top three winners in each division will be granted an award. Divisions: Open - First, Second, and Third Place Intermediate - First, Second, and Third Place Novice - First, Second, and Third Place Important dates/time Registration: April 30, 2026 from 12pm-4pm May 1, 2026 from 4-6pm Entry items will be recorded, labeled, and grouped by division. Set up on Friday night. Competition and Demonstrations May 2, 2026 from 9am-5pm May 3, 2026 from 12pm-4pm People's Choice voting. Votes are tallied at 3pm on May 3th Pick Up Entries after Peoples Choice awards and photos about 4pm
