Intermediate Whittling

This class will help students gain more confidence in their carving skills. Students will carve an acorn by learning variations of the pull cut and getting more practice using basic pivot, push and sweep cuts. How to read wood grain in order to predict, avoid, and deal with tear outs will also be presented. Prerequisites – completion of Introduction to Whittling course or Able to perform pivot, push and sweep cuts.

Ocean Resin Coat Rack

Ever wondered how to bring a boring coat rack to life? In this three-session, hands-on class, students will learn how to design and craft a coastal-inspired resin coat rack. Beginning with board preparation and progressing through resin pours to create wave effects, sanding, surface cleaning, finishing and assembly. Students will create an attractive coat rack and choose from four unique ocean-themed coat hooks to personalize their project. All materials will be provided by the instructor, including wood blanks, epoxy resin, pigments, mixing, and application supplies, and coat hooks. Students should wear clothing for working with resin.

Intro to Router Techniques - CLS777

Are you new to the router or are you thinking about buying your first one? Then this class is for you! You'll be introduced to different types of routers and how they work along with what tasks can be achieved with one. Router safety will also be discussed for hand-held and router table operations. We will go over different types of router bits and how to choose them to complete any project that you are designing. In the second part of the class, you will learn how to make a variety of jigs and how to match a jig to the router task at hand.
