During this two part class, learn and build a basic end table using a miter saw, jointer, planer, table saw. Glue up a panel for the top, and join the base using pocket hole joinery. Limited use of the router for edge profiles will also be involved.
This introduction class to the router will cover safety, styles, router bit selection and is designed to inform the new router user to this tool. If you have a router, feel free to bring it, but if you are unsure of what router you should buy based on your projects, this will answer your questions.
Get to know and understand turning safety, the lathe and its attachments, tuning tools, wood grain orientation and its significance. The basics of tool sharpening will be covered as you get the feel of the tools and make beads/coves and chips. This is a fun class to get the fundamentals of spindle work and is a required class to proceed on to Introduction to Bowl Turning.
Using your router to create projects gets a little easier with a jig or template. We’ll walk you through the basics how to rout with a template.
