In this 4-part class you will gain knowledge and learn the proper techniques to turn rough cut lumber into a finished 3D cutting board. These beautiful cutting boards sell in kitchen stores for up to $450; this class will teach you why they are worth the cost. You will use woodworking shop equipment including the jointer, planer, bandsaw and table saw to turn rough cut lumber direct from the mill into dimensioned lumber. Then, using the lumber you milled, you will go through multiple cuts, glue ups, and sanding utilizing the drum sander to create your own beautifully crafted end grain 3D cutting board.

Scrap Wood Challenge

Put Your Skills to the Test in Our Scrap Wood Challenge! Calling all makers! It’s time to dig into that scrap pile and get creative. Build anything you want using any fastener—screws, nails, staples, dowels… your choice! The only rules: Your project must be fully finished (paint, stain, oil—your call) It must fit within 18" x 18" And of course… it must be made from scrap wood and a picture of the scrap wood pile that you will be using must be emailed to our store. Bring your completed creation to Woodcraft Downingtown to show off your craftsmanship and compete for bragging rights (and maybe a prize or two!). Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned woodworker, this is the perfect chance to have fun, challenge yourself, and inspire others. Ready to join the fun? Start building!

Turn Your First Bowl

Sunday, April 12, 2026, 5:30 PM - 9 PM

Students will practice the cuts appropriate for shaping and smoothing the inside and outside using a bowl gouge, parting tool and a scraper. At the end of the class students will have turned a bowl on their own!
