Mortise & Tenon Joinery

HANDS-ON. The mortise and tenon is one of the oldest and strongest joints in woodworking history. It is used in almost every type of furniture construction including chairs, stools, tables, beds and cabinet door frames. Many woodworkers are afraid of this joint but, after attending the class, you will have a great understanding of it. This lecture/demo/hands-on class will show how to make the joint using various tools including hand tools, plunge router, router table, table saw, band saw, drill press and hollow chisel mortiser. Square Board Fundamentals

HANDS-ON. Got rough boards? Want to learn the simple steps needed to machine that board square, flat and the correct thickness to build something? Then this is the perfect hands-on class for you. Howard will teach the basics of wood technology and stock preparation. This fun, quick class will cover the use of the table saw, jointer and thickness planer. Students will also learn which side of the board should be used for the outside of the project and learn how to glue up a panel without it cupping. Basic Woodworking

HANDS-ON. OUR MOST POPULAR CLASS!! ADULTS ONLY - NO YOUTH - 18 YEARS AND OLDER. This foundation course introduces you to the wonderful world of woodworking. You will learn how to set alignment and use the chop saw, table saw, jointer, planner, band saw, router table and a stationary sander. Safety will be emphasized with each machine. Each student will complete a hands-on project using basic joinery techniques. Types of wood and finishing techniques will also be discussed.
