Basic Turning

Part 1: Monday, August 4, 6 PM - 10 PM

Part 2: Tuesday, August 5, 6 PM - 10 PM

Part 3: Wednesday, August 6, 6 PM - 10 PM

HANDS-ON. Paul DeMars will teach this dynamic and fundamental, "3-session", class for all beginning turners. Session #1: Spindle Turning. This class is geared to help you get started on the lathe. Tool selection, handling, safety and machine basics will be covered. You will learn how to make cuts to produce beads, coves and other basic spindle shapes. Session #2: Bowl Turning/Face Grain. Perfect your basic skills by learning to turn a wooden bowl. Face plate turning, tool selection, techniques, sanding and finishing will be covered. Session #3: Bowl Turning/End- Grain. Learn to turn another style of bowl by it's end-grain. End-grain bowls are very different than face-grain bowls and will allow you to expand your turning skills. Paul is a great teacher and will provide each student with hands-on skills that will last a lifetime. No refunds for cancellations/reschedules within 7 days of class date.

Basic Bowl Turning and Design

Part 2: Friday, August 8, 6 PM - 10 PM

HANDS-ON. PLEASE NO BEGINNERS. BASIC TURNING SKILLS NEEDED. We have a Great Turning Class for anyone interested in learning how to turn a bowl. Michael will provide hands-on teaching as each students turns a medium-size bowl about 5-6 inches in diameter. Students will learn how to mount a bowl blank to the lathe using several different methods and which tools to use and how to use them to make clean efficient cuts. This class also will cover the various types of finish, including oils, friction polish and even just buffing with wax. This will be a very popular class so, Sign-up A.S.A.P. Basic Woodworking

Part 1: Saturday, August 9, 9 AM - 6 PM

Part 2: Sunday, August 10, 9 AM - 6 PM

HANDS-ON. OUR MOST POPULAR CLASS!! ADULTS ONLY - NO YOUTH - 18 YEARS AND OLDER. This foundation course introduces you to the wonderful world of woodworking. You will learn how to set alignment and use the chop saw, table saw, jointer, planner, band saw, router table and a stationary sander. Safety will be emphasized with each machine. Each student will complete a hands-on project using basic joinery techniques. Types of wood and finishing techniques will also be discussed.
