Finishing Workshop

Friday, August 22, 9 AM - 5 PM

Love to build, but hate to finish projects? With this Introduction course, the focus will be to give the student the experience of using different Penetrating Finishes & Topcoats. The teacher will guide the student in various applications penetrating finishes in the morning. Then in the afternoon the teacher will go over the application of various topcoats. The student will use various application methods that include brushes, rags & paper towels.
A method/sequence will be given so the student will be able to achieve predictable results.
The student is strongly encouraged to wear "old" clothes that they are not afraid of getting messy. Gloves will be provided for the student to use.

Introduction to Woodworking II

Part 1: Saturday, August 23, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 2: Sunday, August 24, 9 AM - 5 PM

In this class, the Student will expand upon what they have already learned by using the bandsaw and router, in addition to the tools learned in the previous class, to build a Shaker Side Table. The student will learn how to make the mortise and tenon joint using the Festool Domino tool, a simple Dovetail Drawer, as well as how to add a taper to a leg.

Scroll-sawing the most popular, rewarding and safest of all woodworking activities. The tool is easy for beginning woodworkers of all ages to create a wide variety of useful and fun items. This class will show you how to set-up and use the saw, select the proper blade for different projects, find or create and use patterns, and to sand and finish your creation. You will practice basic in- and outside cuts to make sticks figures, puzzles, three-dimensional objects, and much more.
