Woodworking II

This is a 3-day comprehensive fine furniture building continuation of Woodworking I and II (intro to woodworking and kitchen table class). Beginners are welcome, but also recommended that other classes mentioned are taken prior as this is a higher end class and we want you as happy with your table as possible. The primary focus of this intermediate class is cutting on the bandsaw and shaping with a new set of skills and tools not previously introduced. Other topics covered will include floating table top design techniques and integrated apron construction, structure and functionality, and precision jig work for exposed dowel joinery. Developing upon the skills and techniques learned in Woodworking I and II, students will build a beautiful high-end console, entry, or hall table. Leg and apron wood selection is up to the instructor, and is subject to wood availability at the time of the class. Students will be asked to choose wood for their table top and lower shelf. The final finish will be up to the student. Students wishing to learn more about finishing are encouraged to enroll in our hands-on "Finishing Basics" class. Consultation with the instructor is required no later than one week prior to class, and student's wood choice must be pre-approved and provided to the instructor no later than one week prior to class. NOTE: Please do NOT wait until the last minute for this! If your wood selection does not work with the project,. At the end of class, students will have completed their table to take home. NOTE: This class is scheduled only once or twice per year, and class size is limited. Please confirm your spot early, as this class is not scheduled very often!!!

Relief Carving

Relief carving is a technique in which a three-dimensional design is created on a flat wooden surface. The design is carved in such a way that certain elements stand out from the background, giving the illusion of depth and dimension. Our relief carving workshop introduces the fundamental concepts of sculpting depth into wood pattern creation, wood preparation, transferring the design, removing background wood, modeling shapes with tools (chisels), detailing, and finishing.

Basic Bowl Turning

Learn various techniques needed to turn a bowl. This class deals with the use of the lathe chuck, hollowing techniques and final finishing of your project. This course is designed for the beginner to intermediate turner who wants to get a good foundation on bowl turning. Turn your first bowl or sharpen your skills and take home your handcrafted bowl.

Couples Pen Turning

Looking for new ways to make your next date night more memorable? Get creative! Couples pen turning at Woodcraft Tulsa. Whether you're in the early stages of something new or looking to add some variety to your romantic routine, an evening together at Woodcraft Tulsa is a great way to get close with someone special. Couples will make two pens - one wood and one acrylic. You'll learn how to pick your project wood/acrylics, how to prepare and mount on the lathe and several of the more popular finishes.

This class will equip you will the knowledge and skill you need to make even more on your own. bring a bit of homemade to your kitchen and throw out those old gross plastic spatulas! Patriotic Pen Turning

Saturday, June 13, 2026, 11 AM - 3 PM

At this unique workshop you will turn a pen for donation and turn a pen to keep. The gift of a unique wooden pen sends a message of appreciation, love, and support to both active duty service members and those in hospitals or rehabilitation centers. Turned pens are packaged and sent around the globe, with cards and information about how the pens were made.

Vessel Carving

A perfect introduction to knife carving. In this class you will cut, carve and sand a bowl. We will give the beginner carving enthusiast a solid foundation in woodcarving because we address the carving skill from it's simplest building blocks. Learn how to handle your carving tools in the wood; from roughing out the beginnings of your project to the final delicate detailing.
