Part 2: Wednesday, June 24, 2026, 2 PM - 5 PM

Join Marzell to cover the basics of working with epoxy. This 2-day course will cover mixing, coloring, and pouring epoxy. Students are encouraged to bring items to trap or suspend in the epoxy. The items must be dry. Wood, metal and fabric can all be trapped in resin. Students will each make a custom pour using clear and colored epoxy in a mold. The epoxy will then be cut and shaped into a one-of-a-kind clock.

Woodcraft's Shop Safety class is an introduction to safe shop practices. As this class is a prerequisite to other classes offered by Woodcraft, the instructor will discuss general safety concerns as they relate to the equipment located in our shop. It also presents the student an opportunity to become familiar with Woodcraft's particular machinery. While your own equipment will most likely be different than ours, the safety practices learned will be easily applied in your shop. Hands on experience will be gained on some of the most commonly used equipment in the shop. In this new and expanded version of the class, we will also be discussing the different types of safety equipment available for shop use, from safety glasses to first aid kits. Hearing and eye protection and closed toe shoes are required.

This class is for the brand new woodturner and those for whom any association with the lathe may have been many years ago. It is also for those who have recently acquired a lathe or those who are anticipating purchasing one. We will introduce you to the basics of woodturning, the medium we use (wood), some of the things you can do on the lathe, which lathe might be best for you, and how to use it safely. You will be told about all of those other things you will need but nobody told you about - tools, grinders, chucks, drills, sandpaper, finishes, etc. Some of these (turning tools for instance) are a necessity, while others are desirable options. We will cover some basic sharpening techniques using a roughing gouge for our demonstration. Time permitting and how well you grasp a few basic tool techniques, you will be guided through making a simple project that you can take home and use. (All materials are included) (CLS311)

Learn to make basic cabinets for the kitchen, bathroom or shop in this two-day class. Jay will discuss all aspects of cabinet making such as design, layout, and building the carcass. Jay will teach you how to use the pocket hole jig for joining face frames, and for joining the carcasses of the cabinets. You will make a shelf and then use a jig for drilling shelf pin holes. The router table, table saw, jointer, sander, and planer will all be used. During the class, you will make and then take home a small upper cabinet.
