Using a variety of domestic and exotic woods, you will create a basket-weave pattern end-grain cutting board. Class will include milling the wood, 3 different glue-ups to create your colorful pattern, sanding and finishing techniques. At the end of the class you will have a beautiful solid end-grain cutting board, the envy of all your friends.

You will create a 12" x 12" kumiko trivet while learning the basic techniques of this hand-tool-centric Japanese art form.

Jewelry Making

Come and make a beautiful pendant necklace and/or earrings using a variety of exotic woods. Class includes all materials, jewelry findings, clasps and cording. Make something special for that special someone.

Fundamentals Of Woodworking For Women, Non- binary & Queer Individuals

This is our standard Fundamentals of Woodworking class, but for those who identify as women, nonbinary or queer individuals only.

Bandsaw Box 101

Part 1: Monday, November 17, 2025, 6 PM - 9 PM

The band saw is one of the most useful tools in the woodshop and has become the shop standard for making curved and other irregular cuts. Learn the ins and outs of this most useful tool by way of a simple project. From a solid block of cherry, we’ll create a shaped box with two drawers. First we’ll cut the outside shape of the box. Then the back will be sliced off as a thin strip. Next, the drawer shapes will be cut from the block. Each of those drawers, in turn, will have both the front and back sliced off. Following that, drawer cavities will be cut. Finally all of the parts will be glued back together and sanded. As a final step, if time permits, a finish coat of oil can be applied.

Class will include milling the wood, 3 different glue-ups to create your 3-D pattern, sanding and finishing techniques. At the end of the class you will have a beautiful solid end-grain cutting board, the envy of all your friends!
