This class is designed for the beginning turner as well as those students who have done some turning but may still have some questions about spindle turning. This is a new version of our typical introduction class, each student will turn a practice spindle, and a stem for a wine glass (wine glass included!) to take home. Students will learn the parts of the lathe, turning tools, proper turning techniques, finishing techniques used for turning, and SAFETY while turning.

This class is designed for those students who have done some turning but want to learn how to do a BOWL. Students will be introduced to faceplate and chuck turning. Students will learn proper mounting of the work piece, roughing cut, cutting and sizing tenon, outside and inside bowl cuts, scraper cuts, finishing the foot, and finishing techniques. Students will turn a bowl of their own to take home.

If you have ever wanted to carve three-dimensionally but didn't know how to start or make your piece more life-like, this is the class for you. Whether you want to understand how to carve a realistic face, bears, horses, wolves or other animals, this class can help you do that. The class will offer direct instruction for novice carvers and guidance for those who are more advanced. The goal of the class is to make three-dimensional carving accessible and enjoyable for all carvers. Carvers should come with at least a 4 x 10 x 12 block of wood (basswood or butternut are easiest to work with). Carving tools should be of similar sizes & shapes as those listed.
