Pen Turning - Make & Take

Students will learn the proper steps to make a pen, from cutting and turning to finishing and final assembly. We'll cover the basics of safety, the parts of a lathe, lathe tools, and accessories, as well as everything you need to start making pens, magic wands, hairsticks, chopsticks, Christmas ornaments, and other turned creations! During our class, students will learn how to select and cut wood pen blanks, drill and mount the blanks on the lathe, turn the pen barrels, apply finish, and assemble a pen. And the skills learned in this class will easily transfer to other turning classes or projects. Each student will turn a pen to take home to show friends and family members. CAUTION: Pen Turning can be very addictive!
