Furniture Building 101 - 3-Legged Sitting Stool

Build your very own 3-legged sitting stool in this furniture building class. You will learn the basic techniques needed for building more complex furniture, including tables and chairs. You will be introduced to "rake & splay", sight lines, tapered through tenons, blind tenons, and wedged joints. Each student is responsible for supplying their own bench planes (#3 or #4 & a #5), mallet, 4” bevel gauge, sanding block, 8” compass, cross cut saw, safety glasses and hearing protection. Bring your lunch.

CNC IV - Making a Part from Scratch

This is the fourth class offered in our CNC curriculum. In this class you will learn how to make a working part from scratch using a simple design. Each student is responsible for supplying their own personal laptop loaded with VCarve Pro Trial. Download VCarve Pro Trial at vectric.com/free-trial/vcarve-pro. This lecture class utilizes a Next Wave CNC machine and VCarve Software. This is a lecture class. Students will not create any physical projects. The projects made in your VCarve program are saved and can be used to make the project on your own. This class will yield a fully usable part design. As soon as you go home you make this part using your CNC machine.

Wood Finishing: An Introduction

In this demonstration class, the instructor will cover sealers, stains, dyes, and hand applied finishes. They will focus on various types of topcoats both water borne and solvent based, as well as some spray finishes. Proper sanding techniques will also be addressed. Each student is responsible for supplying their own safety glasses, hearing protection, notebook, and pencil.

Turn for Troops

Come by Woodcraft Sacramento on July 5th or 6th to turn a pen for our troops. We are doing a kickoff event this weekend to get a jump start on our goal of 125 pens. But we need your help. We’ll have everything you need to turn a pen that Woodcraft will donate to our troops in honor of their sacrifice and service.
