Parent must accompany students under 18. This class is designed for those who are interested in beginning carving as a woodworking hobby. You will be introduced to a variety of basic carving knife profiles, how and when they are used, proper care and sharpening. You will also begin a carving project which can be independently completed with what you will have learned in class.
Finishing can make or break your project. Spend the evening with Brian as he unravels the mysteries of completing your project. This class will include surface preparation and a variety of finishes, including oil and water based materials, shellac and varnish.
Minimum Age 16 with Parent. Fixed Blade Knife. From hunting and camping to preparing a simple meal, a good knife is indispensable. Learn the ins and outs of making your own knife handles. Tuition includes all supplies needed to create your own knife. Stan will cover sizing, shaping, fastening, finishing and polishing. You'll walk out of class with a sharp treasure!
