The multiple drive teeth and spring loaded center point benefit both novice and experienced turners. The spring loaded center point holds your workpiece exactly where you want it and then retracts as tailstock pressure is increased. This keeps the point from drifting with the grain or splitting the workpiece. Because the center retracts, less pressure is needed to engage the teeth, especially helpful in hard woods where a traditional center would have to be driven in to engage the spurs.
  • 1" Diameter
  • #2 Morse taper
  • Spring loaded center point
  • Superior bite

    performs as advertised

perfect for the Jet 1236 Lathe. The only thing I was even slightly disapointed about was the spring loaded center pin. It is a great idea, but sometimes I remount a spindle and my old spur left a definate hole in the wood so I could get it EXACTLY where I wanted it. I know "you shouldn't remount a spindle", however sometimes I find it necessary... ( I have been known to make mistakes) It is a great tool for the job, and I would definately recommend it and will probably buy another one.

    I have already recommended it

I wish the spring on the center was a little stiffer

    Perfect drive center

A great center for driving wood where you need a good grip but don't want to go deeply into the wood.

    Very good product. Great price.

I use the drive center for spindle work on my grown-up lathe. I have a smaller, similar drivecenter I use on my midi lathe that cost more than this 1" center.
