Pilón (Hyeronyma alchorneoides), commonly known as Bully Tree Wood, is renowned for its heavy, dark maroon wood. The heartwood is generally reddish brown, although it can show some dark chocolate brown similar to Black Walnut. It has good working properties in all operations, and glues and finishes well. Pilón primarily has straight grain, but may have some interlocking grain, which has a striped or ribbon-like appearance. Texture is moderately coarse with a low luster. Slab measures 1-1/2" x 21" x 48" and has been surfaced on both sides.
