Granadillo (Platymiscium ulei) is an extremely hard, satiny, reddish–brown wood with charming light cream-colored highlights and swirling grain. It looks like a cross between Honduras Rosewood and Cocobolo. The wood is exceptionally dense and heavy. Overall, it has good working characteristics for both hand and machine tools, though areas of interlocked grain should be approached with care to avoid tear-out. Able to take a very high natural polish. Common uses include furniture, musical instruments, turning projects, inlay, wooden jewelry and decorative items. Slab measures 1-3/4" x 15" +/- x 48".
