Details

Thuya burl (Tectraclinis articulata) has a rich, lustrous golden brown to nearly black color with dark almost black eyes. The eyes, perfectly round, are scattered about in some burls like the figure in bird's-eye maple; in others they are grouped as islands. Fairly firm and dense with a high oil content, but tends to be brittle. Machines very well and achieves a high luster. Thuya Burl is an exquisite wood used for inlays, small boxes, and turnings. We have carefully and selectively cut a small quantity of 3/4" x 3/4" x 5" pen blanks from one of the most exciting wood species that we have ever seen. Expensive yes, but the results will be worth it.
