Porter-Cables stock blade insert will do the job but it's way oversized for the job it's intended to do. These zero clearance inserts really install easily and once the 'custom' cut is made the saw is safer and the below table dust collection works a whole lot better. Price is fair and the product is durable!
Wonderful for cutting small pieces
Great for cutting those small pieces that want to fall in the slot. Cuts down on table top sawdust.
Great addition to table saw
Being that the Hitachi TS I own is discontinued and parts are limited, this was a great find. Everyone needs a zero clearance insert to add to their shop. Very easy to set up. I will be purchasing more for 45° cuts and dado.
First and only company to offer zero clearance for Hitachi - thank you!
Great Fit to my Porter Cable table saw
This product fits my Table saw great. Extremely happy with the things I am able to do with my table saw. My confidence with this table saw is greatly improved with this small purchase. Im considering buying one more for back up, so I never not have one. Thanks
flat, rigid, low friction surface
simple instructions. Gives you zero clearance around blade that minimizes tearout when cutting hardwoods and plywood.
Quality Product....Perfect Fit
I bought this to get zero clearance on my Hitachi table saw. This insert fit perfectly. All leveling adjustment holes lined up and the insert required no modifying by me. I clamped a 1x4 over the insert with the blade lowered as the instructions suggested and raised the blade into the insert. I ended up with a perfect zero clearance insert. I'm going to get a few more for angle cuts and dado cuts.
great product-good material and design
Can't Beat It
Out of the box and on the saw in no time. Good fit, easy adjustment and a great product.
Poter Cable Insert
A necessity when cuting small pieces. The groove in factory insert allows small pieces to be ripped from your hand. Bought two one for dado blade and one for saw blade
I bought two of these at first because I just didn't know how they would work with the blades I had in my shop. I found that when I used certin blades they would slice out more material in the plate. I was at the local big box store and found some blades on clearence so I bought what they had in stock. Big test run yesterday was to rip and cross cut 1x10 planks of maple. Zero tear out. Just what I was looking for. I will be purchasing a bunch more of these
Works well with my Hitachi table saw
It was hard to find an insert that worked with my Hitachi saw, this work great will be buying at least one more.
Good insert for the Porter Cable PCB270T
I bought 2 of these for use with my Porter Cable PCB270TS table saw; one for the rip blade and one for the dado set. Instructions were clear and I had no problems of any sort cutting the slots. Do follow the instructions carefully, particularly the part about clamping a piece of wood over the insert and to the table so that the insert is completely convered and held tight to the top while you are raising the blade. If you do that you won't have any problems with chip out or tearing up the insert and you will achieve a perfect zero clearance slot. Also note that all leveling and adjusting should be done before you raise the blade and cut the slot. I chose to cut a 3/4 inch dado slot. I'll probably order another HT-1 and dedicate it to a 1/2 slot. Those seem to be the dado stacks I use the most. After raising the rip blade and making its slot I reinstalled the original metal PC insert, turned the HT-1 face down, carefully set the fence so that the blade was exactly in the just cut HT-1 slot (just high enough to clear the HT-1) and carefully cut the slot longer to accomodate the riving knife. This is a risky way to to that, so unless you are extremely careful, use appropriate push blocks, etc I wouldn't recommend this method. That said, I was able to make a perfect cut extending the slot to accomodate the riving knife. After using the inserts on a couple of projects I've been very satisfied and recommend the HT-1 for use with the Porter cable PCB270TS.
Although this insert looks good, it is not really a good fit for the Porter Cable saw - pre-cut kerf area is not in the right place, and the height set screw holes aligned poorly. More importantly, it is trivially easy to split or chip the surface of the insert during the sawing-in process, leaving you with an essentially worthless insert. Takes about a half an hour to make your own out of 5/8" melamine surfaced MDF, and you'll get better results, and earn about $50/hour. I bought this to compare with my home-mades. Lesson learned.
Installs easily per instructions. It's a great improvement over my home made aluminium version and the rather large one supplied by Hitachi.
Two thumbs up !!
Finally found this product. This is a well manufactured insert..Routed out for all the lips and ledges on the saw. It has 2 outfeed end tabs versus 1 on the original insert which secures it much better. The insert comes with an instruction sheet which is well written and easy to follow. The fit is good, however I have to agree with others, there is a tad bit of lateral slop which could be rectified with a couple of small set screws on the side of the insert, similar to the locking screw.(May try this on mine) Overall...a great product...Since they were difficult to find, I bought 2.
I would buy this product again!!!
I have 2...Great for cutting small pieces on the table saw and with a dado blade
makes dado easy to use
Zero Clearance Insert
I finally leveled the insert with the ta
Insert fit the opening perfectly on my Hitachi table saw. However, in trying to level the insert with the table, tightening the retainer screw on the front threw everything off kilter. I corrected by shimming the rear two clips on the insert to keep the front screw from raising the rear of the insert.
This is outstanding. Perfect fit. The only down side is that after going to 2 different Woodcraft stores, I still had to order it online. You would think they would even stock just one.
Works well with my porter cable table saw. Was a little hard to fine because of the hitachi title.
The fit and finish are great on this item. I did not find anything that I did not like about this item. I plan to buy one or more of these for my saw.
I've been waiting a long time for this!
I've been waiting for this product for a long time. I was so happy to have it offered I bought 2. The only drawback I have found is it is 1/64" too narrow. Every time I change blades the gap gets wider. I solved the issue by gluing a shim to the left side of the insert so there is no wiggle room. I wish they had an adjustment screw to lock it in place. I have sent feedback to Leecraft so we will see if they come out with a Gen II.
I would buy this product again
The insert is very good quality. After inserting the insert it has a little movement side to side causing a small amount of chatter until the relief is big enough to allow for movement.
Hitachi Zero Clearance Insert by LEECRAF
The Hitachi table saws have a unique fince system that uses thumb wheels. They are awesome. This has been aparently been passed on to PorterCable. It is great to have a source of these inserts.
I have been waiting 5 years for someone to build this for the Hitachi. Thank you!!!
Leecraft thought of the Hithchi owners
Looked a year for an insert to fit my Hitachi cabinet saw and this was worth the wait, Well made and helps when cutting very thin strips safely.
I've been waiting for 5 years!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been waiting for 5 years for this. Much better then the ones I've made myself. I purchased two of them, on for standard blade and one for 3/4" dado.
Great Find! For my Hitachi Table Saw
This insert fit perfect and was easy to install. Finally found one for the Hitachi Table saw. Makes the saw much safer to use.
just what i needed
Woodcraft was the only place I found this insert for a new to the market table saw..
Have had to make do with homemade inserts until now as no one made them for this saw.Way better material than mine.
Great Product. Fits Hitachi Fine
First one that I found to fit my table saw. Easy to install and adjust. Makes my saw safer to use.
Zero Clearance Insert - Hitachi
I've been waiting for almost 5 years for someone to make one of these that would fit the Hitachi table saw. Thank you!!!!!!!

I use it in framing my Intarsia

LeeCraft Bats 1000
Sold as Model HT-1. This is a well manufactured insert......about 1/2 inch thick, routed out for all the lips and ledges on the saw. the outfeed end of the unit has 2 tabs versus 1 on the OEM insert and secures it a lot better. The original leveling system is utilized as is the infeed end screw for securing. And there is a finger hole for easy extraction for blade changing. The insert comes with an instruction sheet for cutting the kerf, which is amazingly well written and easy to follow. The fit is good, however there is a tad bit of lateral slop (probably caused by the factory milling process of the saw, i.e no 2 will be exactly the same) which could be easily alleviated with a couple small set screws on the side of the insert. All in all....a great product....a safety product that is a must have.......a 1000 percent better than the OEM insert. I will definitely purchase a couple more.
Another Homerun From LeeCraft!
The insert was a perfect fit. I was able to install the insert straight from the package and start using it immediately.
Prime product from prime vendor
I have found a product for the novice to move forward. I purchased the Hitachi table saw without the knowledge of add ons. This will certainly add value to my saw which to date has performed flawlessly. The instructions were easy to understand and execute. Thus far, a fine product. Kudos to Leecraft on bringing a smaller mfg to greater hights. I have already re-ordered two more for alternative uses.
