In general, it’s important to select the proper file based on the number of saw points or teeth of the saw. The 7" long file will do saws with between 5 to 9 points or teeth per inch.

    Nicholson 7" file

    Works as advertized. Good little file for saw shapening. Fit my rip-saw well.

    Nice file, wish they had more sizes

    Nicholson only recommends this size file for 9 points per inch, it's not wide enough for my 8 ppi Disston D8.
